A Letter From District 1 V.P. Chris Shelton

District One V.P. Chris Shelton

Before you go to vote this year, I want to make sure you know about the Working Families Party.

The Working Families Party is our party. Tens of thousands of union New Yorkers vote Working Families every election day.

Why? The Working Families Party was started by CWA and other unions, and it really fights for the things that matter to us: good jobs, fair wages, good benefits, and state budgets that support working families instead of giving tax cuts to billionaires.

If you’re tired of politicians who don’t keep their promises to unions and working families, the best way to change that is by voting Working Families Party on November 2.

Can you take this quick survey to let us know if you’ll vote Working Families?

Yes, I’m definitely voting Working Families Party, the pro-union party, on Nov. 2.

I might vote Working Families Party, but I want to know more.

I won’t be voting Working Families Party.

You’ll find the Working Families Party on row “E” of your ballot, and voting there (instead of on the Democrat or Republican line) counts the same. The difference is that Working Families looks at the records of all the candidates — no matter what party they’re from — and supports the ones that will do the most to stand up for unions and working people.

On Election Day, please skip the lines for Democrats and Republicans on your ballot and go straight to row “E,” the Working Families line. Vote for Governor Andrew Cuomo, Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, and other pro-labor candidates under the Working Families Party. It’s the best way to send a message to all the politicians that good, union jobs are the priority.

To show you how it works, here’s a picture of how your ballot will look on Election Day. Votes on the Working Families line show CWA’s power to all the politicians, which makes it easier to get them to help us, especially when we need them to put pressure on our employers to treat us fairly.

Will you stand with proud union members around New York by Working Families Party on Election Day?

Yes

Maybe

No

Thanks,

Chris Shelton,
Vice President
