Bargaining is scheduled to resume Wednesday, August 31st.

Contrary to rumors and misinformation being circulated, we are not working under an expired contract. We are working under an extended contract, which means all provisions of the contract are in tact, including medical, arbitration and job security.

As always, Local 1101 takes pride in the slogan “1101 takes care of its own”.

With eight members suspended for alleged strike activity, this time will be no different. We are asking every member to contribute, as we have done in the past, every week to a fund to take care of our members.  Your Chief Steward will have more information.

With the approaching storm, the bus trip to Washington this Saturday has been cancelled.

We hope each and everyone one of you is safe and sound as the storm reaches us.

All members are to report to work on Tuesday, August 23rd. Any member who has unusual circumstances is protected for 72 hours, until Friday, under the back to work agreement.

Any member who has received a letter of suspension is to report to the local at 275 7th Avenue or the field office in the Bronx.

All members should assemble in front of their work location in their Gerry Horgan red and go in together. You should be proud of what you have done here. Walk in with your head held high. We are one and we will go in as one.

Be Strong, Be Together and Be Proud!

I cannot emphasis how proud I am to be a member of this local and to help lead it.

Every member, whether he or she has 1 year or 40, should be proud.  You have earned your stripes; you are part of the STRIKE OF ’11.

You have helped spark the labor movement, but our fight is not over.

The unions’ committees continued to review the proposals by the company and all the information we have received from the company. We are scheduled to resume talks tomorrow.

Today we filed unfair labor practice charges at the NLRB in Manhattan against Verizon for unilaterally changing the way our members got paid last Thursday. Our members were sent to places other than their regular reporting location to pick up their paychecks. Some members had to drive many extra miles to get their checks. Verzion did this to harass our members on strike and to cost them money. Verizon is also refusing to pay disability to members on sick leave when the strike began if they had not yet reached their eighth day of absence. This too was done unilaterally for the purpose of harassing our members. Verizon has also told the Union that they will not pay people for scheduled vacation time during the strike. Again, they did this unilaterally for the purpose of making it difficult for striking members.

Verizon’s actions violate the National Labor Relations Board in two ways. These actions were taken without bargaining with the Union; they were also done to make things more difficult for our striking members. As such these actions are unlawful.

Your Bargaining Committees met with the company today.

Proposals were discussed and when talks recessed for the night, the company was still reviewing your Union’s latest counter-proposal on a number of issues.

The Unions & the company are scheduled to resume discussions at 10am Sunday morning.

Brothers & sisters, YOU ARE MAKING THE DIFFERENCE!  Regardless of what Lowell McAdams says on his Bullshit tape.

Clearly Mickey Mouse and all of his side-kicks are back in town.

With 45,000 strikers on the picket lines, these bloodsuckers want to talk about the ½ day before Christmas.

Everyone of the leadership should rot in hell. Look in the mirror! Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the greediest of them all.

May you all rot in hell you bastards.

This morning, Ivan Seidenberg stopped at our picket lines at West Street. He
told our Members his bargaining team is ready to bargain, if we just returned to
the bargaining table.

Ivan, where the hell were you for the last 6 weeks when your bargaining team
couldn’t agree on the color of the walls?

Where were you when they wanted to gut our medical benefits while you and your
wife are guaranteed free medical benefits for life.

Where were you when they wanted to kill our pension, even though your pension would
pay for our benefits by itself.

Where were you when retirees are asked to pay $6,000 in benefits, even after you
had blocked a pension increase for 25 years?

Where were you when your team wants to wipe out 50 years of sacrifice? Not
gifts Ivan, sacrifice!

Ivan, remember your roots and think of your 45,000 employees.

Your demands are Bullshit, and your legacy should be one of dignity not Bullshit.

To my members, I have been to almost every picket line in this local. I’m proud to be part of Local 1101. You are the best and we will prevail.

 Thank you for calling.
