As a result of an error by the National Union’s Membership System, we have contacted the National Union and the Department of Labor and informed them that we are delaying our officer elections for two weeks to allow our AT&T members to participate in the election.

Bargaining continues with the company answering questions about our
counter-proposals. With the Company still seeking major concessions, your
Bargaining Team is more unified and determined than ever.

VERIZON, CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?

Tuesday, October 4

Your Regional Committee spent the afternoon yesterday presenting a series of comprehensive proposals covering healthcare, returning jobs to the bargaining unit, benefits, absence and job security.

The Company committee had a few initial questions and is currently reviewing our proposals. We expect to meet with the Company to answer any additional questions they may have prior to receiving any counter proposals from them.

Our mobilization at Verizon Wireless and the Apple stores is in full swing as the iPhone 5 debuts today. We need to keep the pressure on Verizon and to continue to get our message out. If you have not already volunteered to handbill at a store location please contact your steward and sign up. By everyone working together from the bargaining table to handbilling the store locations, we will stand strong against Verizon’s attempt to strip our contracts of provisions gained over the last 50 years.

The Regional Bargaining Committees for the north and south met together yesterday to identify and discuss common issues and a united front. These interdistrict meetings will continue.

Our Committee continued to discuss and work on the Union’s proposals. We will continue to work on the proposals and will meet with the company on Tuesday.

We have spent, the last few days arguing with the company on the lack of concern for their customers and their determination to abandon customer service for the sake of punishing us for the strike by denying overtime. Yesterday they opened up with over 35,000 troubles. They finally declared an emergency and opened up the purse strings yesterday afternoon. Finally they are putting customers first.

This process will not be easy or quick, but with your determination and support, we will get a fair contract.
